एते योनिफला देवि स्थानभागनिदर्शका: । स्वयं च वरदेनोक्ता ब्रह्मणा सृजता प्रजा:,देवि! ये जो चारों वर्णोंके स्थान और विभाग बतलाये गये हैं, ये उस-उस जातिमें जन्म ग्रहण करनेके फल हैं। प्रजाकी सृष्टि करते समय वरदाता ब्रह्माजीने स्वयं ही यह बात कही है
Translation
O Devī, these designations that indicate the rank and division of the four varṇas are the fruit of being born in their respective wombs (yonis). When creating the creatures, Brahmā himself—the bestower of boons—declared this.
