Śatarudrīya-prabhāva and Rudra’s Supremacy (शतरुद्रीयप्रभावः)
तमभ्ययाच्छैलसुता भूतस्त्रीगणसंवृता,उस समय भूतोंकी स्त्रियोंसे घिरी हुई गिरिराज-नन्दिनी उमा सम्पूर्ण तीर्थोके जलसे भरा हुआ सोनेका कलश लिये उनके पास आयीं। उन्होंने भी भगवान् शंकरके समान ही वस्त्र धारण किया था। वे भी उन्हींकी भाँति उत्तम व्रतका पालन करती थीं
tam abhyayāc chailasutā bhūtastrīgaṇasaṃvṛtā |
Nārada said: Then Umā, the Daughter of the Mountain, surrounded by the wives of the bhūtas, approached him. She came bearing a golden pitcher filled with water gathered from all sacred fords (tīrthas). Like Lord Śaṅkara himself, she wore the same kind of garments and observed an excellent vow with the same steadfast discipline.
नारद उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic concord in spiritual life: Umā mirrors Śaṅkara’s discipline and attire, suggesting that true devotion is expressed through shared austerity, steadfast vows (vrata), and reverence for tīrthas—ethical steadiness rather than mere display.
Nārada narrates that Umā, accompanied by the wives of Śiva’s bhūta-attendants, comes to Śaṅkara carrying a golden pitcher filled with water collected from sacred tīrthas, and she is described as observing an excellent vow in the same manner as Śiva.
