भुड्क्ते चिकित्सकस्यान्नं तदन्नं च पुरीषवत्‌ । पुंश्वल्यन्नं च मूत्रं स्‍्पात्‌ कारुकान्नं च शोणितम्‌,जो चिकित्सा करनेवाले वैद्यका अन्न खाता है, उसका वह अन्न विष्ठाके समान है। व्यभिचारिणी स्त्री या वेश्याका अन्न मूत्रके समान है। कारीगरका अन्न रक्तके तुल्य है

bhuṅkte cikitsakasya annaṁ tad annaṁ ca purīṣavat | puṁśvaly annaṁ ca mūtraṁ syāt kārukānnaṁ ca śoṇitam ||

Bhishma said: “If one eats the food of a physician, that food is regarded as excrement. The food of a promiscuous woman (or courtesan) is said to be like urine. The food of an artisan is likened to blood.”
