प्रजापालनयुक्तश्न न क्षतिं लभते क्वचित्‌ । युक्तिशास्त्रं च ते ज्ञेयं शब्दशास्त्रं च भारत,जो राजा सदा प्रजाके पालनमें तत्पर रहता है, उसे कभी हानि नहीं उठानी पड़ती। भरतनन्दन! तुम्हें तर्कशास्त्र और शब्दशास्त्र दोनोंका ज्ञान प्राप्त करना चाहिये

prajāpālanayuktaś ca na kṣatiṃ labhate kvacit | yuktiśāstraṃ ca te jñeyaṃ śabdaśāstraṃ ca bhārata ||

Bhishma said: A king who is constantly devoted to the protection and welfare of his subjects does not incur harm anywhere. O Bharata (descendant of Bharata), you should also acquire knowledge of both the science of reasoning and the science of words (grammar and linguistic discipline).
