Anuśāsana-parva 108

अनायुष्यं दिवा स्वप्न तथाभ्युदितशायिता । प्रगे निशामाशु तथा नैवोच्छिष्टा: स्वपन्ति वै,दिनमें एवं सूर्योदयके पश्चात्‌ शयन आयुको क्षीण करनेवाला है। प्रातः:काल एवं रात्रिके आरम्भमें नहीं सोना चाहिये। अच्छे लोग रातमें अपवित्र होकर नहीं सोते हैं

anāyuṣyaṃ divā svapnaḥ tathābhyuditśāyitā | prage niśām āśu tathā naivocchiṣṭāḥ svapanti vai ||

Bhishma said: Sleeping during the daytime, and likewise lying down after sunrise, diminishes one’s lifespan. One should not sleep at dawn, nor at the beginning of the night. The well-conducted do not sleep at night while remaining impure (uncleansed after eating).
