Praise of Ācāra as the Basis of Longevity, Fame, and Prosperity

परस्य दण्डं नोद्यच्छेत् क्रुद्धो नैन॑ निपातयेत् । अन्यत्र पुत्राच्छिष्याच्च शिक्षार्थ ताडनं स्मृतम्,क्रोधमें आकर पुत्र या शिष्यके सिवा दूसरे किसीको न तो डंडा मारे, न उसे पृथ्वीपर ही गिरावे। हाँ, शिक्षाके लिये पुत्र या शिष्यको ताड़ना देना उचित माना गया है
Translation
Bhīṣma said: In anger one should not raise a staff against another, nor strike him down to the ground. Only in the case of one’s son or disciple is chastisement for the sake of instruction remembered as proper.
