आचारप्रशंसा

Praise of Ācāra as the Basis of Longevity, Fame, and Prosperity

हीनांगानतिरिक्तांगान्‌ विद्याहीनान्‌ विगर्हितान्‌ | रूपद्रविणहीनांश्व सत्त्वहीनांश्व नाक्षिपेत्‌,हीनांग (अंधे-काने आदि), अधिकांग (छांगुर आदि), विद्याहीन, निन्दित, कुरूप, निर्धन और निर्बल मनुष्योंपर आक्षेप करना उचित नहीं है

hīnāṅgān atiriktāṅgān vidyāhīnān vigarhitān | rūpa-draviṇa-hīnānś ca sattva-hīnānś ca nākṣipet ||

Bhīṣma said: One should not cast reproach upon people who are physically impaired or deformed, those with extra limbs, those lacking learning, those socially censured, those lacking beauty or wealth, or those lacking strength and courage. Such fault-finding is ethically improper and contrary to dharma.
