Educational Q&A

The verse highlights ethical restraint in relationships: harsh speech and controlling prohibition can rupture trust. It frames companionship as conditional upon respectful conduct and self-control, especially for a ruler whose words carry power.

A woman sets explicit conditions for living with the king: she will remain only so long as he does not forbid her actions or address her with unpleasant words; otherwise she will leave him without hesitation.
