वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the importance of precise genealogical record-keeping—distinguishing spouses with similar or later-mentioned identities—because lineage, inheritance, and social order (dharma) depend on clarity about marriages and offspring.
Vaiśampāyana reports that Avācīna married a Vidarbha princess named Maryādā (different from Devātithi, to be mentioned later) and that their son was named Ariha.
