वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even in a seemingly simple list of names, the Mahābhārata frames remembrance around qualities like vīrya (valor) and yaśas (reputation). Lineage is not merely biological; it carries expectations of conduct and duty, and fame is presented as the social echo of lived virtue and prowess.
Vaiśampāyana continues a genealogical enumeration, naming several descendants/figures in sequence. The verse functions as part of the epic’s careful preservation of dynastic memory, identifying individuals by name and by brief epithets such as “valiant” and “illustrious.”
