Yayāti–Indra Dialogue and Aṣṭaka’s Inquiry

वैशम्पायन उवाच अन्योन्यमेवमुक्‍त्वा तु सम्प्रहस्य च ते मिथ: । जगाम भार्गवी वेश्म तथ्यमित्यवजग्मुषी,वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--जनमेजय! वे दोनों आपसमें इस प्रकार बातें करके हँस पड़ीं। देवयानीको प्रतीत हुआ कि शर्मिष्ठा ठीक कहती है; अत: वह चुपचाप महलमें चली गयी

Vaiśampāyana uvāca: anyonyam evam uktvā tu samprahasya ca te mithaḥ | jagāma Bhārgavī veśma tathyam ity avajagmuṣī ||

Vaiśampāyana said: Having thus spoken to one another, the two of them laughed together. The Bhārgavī (Devayānī), judging that it was indeed true, went silently back to the palace.
