Ādi-parva, Adhyāya 73: Devayānī–Śarmiṣṭhā Dispute, Confinement in the Well, and Yayāti’s Rescue
ततः प्रक्षाल्य पादौ सा विश्रान्तं मुनिमब्रवीत् । विनिधाय ततो भार संनिधाय फलानि च,तदनन्तर शकुन्तलाने उनके लाये हुए फलके भारको लेकर यथास्थान रख दिया। फिर उनके दोनों पैर धोये तथा जब वे भोजन और विश्राम कर चुके, तब वह मुनिसे इस प्रकार बोली
tataḥ prakṣālya pādau sā viśrāntaṁ munim abravīt | vinidhāya tato bhāraṁ sannidhāya phalāni ca ||
Then she washed his feet. After the sage had rested, she addressed him. Having taken the load of fruits he had brought, she set it down in its proper place and arranged the fruits nearby—thus fulfilling the duties of hospitality with attentive care and respect toward an ascetic guest.
