अलंकृतं द्वीपवत्या मालिन्या रम्यतीरया । नरनारायणस्थानं गड़येवोपशोभितम्,टापुओंसे युक्त तथा सुरम्य तटवाली मालिनी नदीसे सुशोभित वह आश्रम गंगा नदीसे शोभायमान भगवान् नर-नारायणके आश्रम-सा जान पड़ता था
alaṅkṛtaṃ dvīpavatyā mālinyā ramyatīrayā | nara-nārāyaṇasthānaṃ gaṅgayevopaśobhitam ||
Vaiśampāyana said: The hermitage, adorned by the river Mālinī—rich with islets and lovely banks—appeared splendid, as if graced by the Gaṅgā itself, resembling the sacred abode of Nara and Nārāyaṇa. The description frames the place as a morally charged setting: purity of landscape mirrors purity of purpose, preparing the listener for disciplined, dharmic action within an atmosphere of sanctity.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Sacred surroundings are portrayed as supporting dharmic discipline: the purity and beauty of the hermitage—likened to the Gaṅgā and to Nara-Nārāyaṇa’s abode—signals a setting fit for restraint, study, and righteous conduct.
The narrator describes an āśrama landscape: the Mālinī river with islets and charming banks adorns the hermitage, and the place is compared to the holy Gaṅgā and to the revered sanctuary of Nara and Nārāyaṇa, emphasizing its sanctity.
