वंशानुकीर्तनम् — Genealogical Recitation from Dakṣa to Yayāti and the Establishment of the Paurava Line
तस्यास्तीरे भगवत: काश्यपस्य महात्मन: । आश्रमप्रवरं रम्यं महर्षिगणसेवितम्,उसके तटपर ही कश्यपगोत्रीय महात्मा कण्वका वह उत्तम एवं रमणीय आश्रम था। वहाँ महर्षियोंके समुदाय निवास करते थे
tasyāstīre bhagavataḥ kāśyapasya mahātmanaḥ | āśramapravaraṃ ramyaṃ maharṣigaṇasevitam ||
On the bank of that river stood the delightful and foremost hermitage of the venerable, great-souled sage Kāśyapa—an āśrama frequented and served by companies of great seers. The scene underscores the Mahābhārata’s moral geography: sacred spaces sustained by disciplined sages become refuges of order, learning, and dharma amid the uncertainties of worldly life.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical ideal of the āśrama as a dharmic center: a well-ordered life of restraint, study, and service creates sanctified spaces where wisdom is preserved and seekers are supported.
Vaiśaṃpāyana describes a beautiful, eminent hermitage on a riverbank belonging to the revered sage Kāśyapa, a place regularly visited and attended by groups of great seers—setting a sacred setting for subsequent events.
