Duḥṣanta–Śakuntalā: Gandharva Marriage and Succession Condition
दिनार्थेन महाबाहु: प्रेतराजपुरं प्रति । ततो महारथैवीरि: समेत्य बहुशो रणे,“तथा बड़े-बड़े महारथी वीरोंका संहार कर डालेगा। आधे दिनमें ही महाबाहु अभिमन्यु समस्त शत्रुओंके एक चौथाई भागको यमलोक पहुँचा देगा। तदनन्तर बहुत-से महारथी एक साथ ही उसपर टूट पड़ेंगे और वह महाबाहु उन सबका सामना करते हुए संध्या होते-होते पुनः मुझसे आ मिलेगा। वह एक ही वंशप्रवर्तक वीर पुत्रको जन्म देगा, जो नष्ट हुए भरतकुलको पुनः धारण करेगा।” सोमका यह वचन सुनकर समस्त देवताओंने “तथास्तु/ कहकर उनकी बात मान ली और सबने चन्द्रमाका पूजन किया। राजा जनमेजय! इस प्रकार मैंने तुम्हारे पिताके पिताका जन्म-रहस्य बताया है
dinārthena mahābāhuḥ pretarājapuraṃ prati | tato mahārathair vīraiḥ sametya bahuśo raṇe ||
Vaiśampāyana said: “Within half a day, the mighty-armed hero will send a great number of warriors to the city of Yama, the lord of the departed. Thereafter, many great chariot-fighters will gather together and repeatedly assail him in battle.”
