Vaiśampāyana said: “From Kratu were born sons equal to their father in sacrificial purity—companions of the Sun’s onward course—renowned in the three worlds, steadfast in truth, and wholly devoted to their vows. (These are the famed Vālakhilya sages, numbering sixty thousand.)”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse praises dharmic excellence through satya (truthfulness) and vrata (disciplined vows): spiritual stature and lasting renown arise from steadfast ethical commitment and purity of conduct.
Vaiśampāyana describes the progeny of the sage Kratu: his sons—identified in tradition as the Vālakhilya sages—are portrayed as exceptionally pure, vow-bound, and celebrated across the three worlds, moving in association with the Sun.
