त्वयाग्नौ ते परीताश्ष स्वयं हि मम संनिधौ । प्रतिश्रुतं तथा चेति ज्वलनेन महात्मना,“मेरे पास ही तुमने अग्निदेवको स्वयं अपने पुत्र सौंपे थे और उन महात्मा अग्निने भी उनकी रक्षाके लिये प्रतिज्ञा की थी
tvayāgnau te parītāś ca svayaṁ hi mama saṁnidhau | pratiśrutaṁ tathā ceti jvalanena mahātmanā ||
Vaiśampāyana said: “In my very presence you entrusted those sons to Agni himself, and that great-souled Lord of Fire likewise gave his pledged word to protect them. Therefore, it stands as a binding promise made openly and cannot be set aside.”
