Vaiśampāyana said: They could not even bear to look upon Arjuna, the wielder of unfailing weapons—how then could they fight him on a battlefield? At times he pierced a hundred with a single arrow; at other times he struck a single foe with a hundred arrows. Seeing Kṛṣṇa with weapon raised, they let out a terrible cry.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how extraordinary power—especially when supported by divine alliance—can render opposition futile; ethically, it warns that when dharmic purpose and superior capability align, ordinary aggression collapses into fear and helplessness.

Creatures/foes, seeing Kṛṣṇa with weapon raised and Arjuna’s infallible martial force, cry out in terror; Arjuna’s archery is described as superhuman—piercing many with one arrow or overwhelming one target with many arrows—making resistance impossible.
