अग्निभय-प्रसङ्गे मन्दपालस्य शोकः

Mandapāla’s Lament amid the Threat of Fire

ददानीत्येव वरुण: पावकं प्रत्यभाषत । तदद्भुतं महावीर्य यशः:कीर्तिविवर्धनम्‌

dadānīty eva varuṇaḥ pāvakaṃ pratyabhāṣata | tad adbhutaṃ mahāvīrya yaśaḥ-kīrti-vivardhanam ||

Vaiśampāyana said: Varuṇa replied to Pāvaka, saying, “I will give it.” That act was wondrous—an exhibition of great power—and it became a cause for the increase of fame and renown.
