Śārṅgakānāṃ Avināśaḥ (Why the Śārṅga Birds Were Spared) | शार्ङ्गकानामविनाशः
आगमगमे च प्रयोगे च चक्रे तुल्यमिवात्मना । तुतोष पुत्र सौभद्रं प्रेक्षमाणो धनंजय:,धनंजयने अभिमन्युको (अस्त्र-शस्त्रोंक) आगम और प्रयोगमें अपने समान बना दिया था। वे सुभद्राकुमारको देखकर बहुत संतुष्ट रहते थे
āgamāgame ca prayoge ca cakre tulyam ivātmanā | tutoṣa putra-saubhadraṁ prekṣamāṇo dhanañjayaḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana said: In the study of the āgamas and in practical application as well, Dhanañjaya (Arjuna) trained Subhadrā’s son so thoroughly that he became, as it were, equal to Arjuna himself. Watching the boy Abhimanyu, Arjuna remained deeply pleased—an image of a teacher’s duty fulfilled and a father’s joy in a worthy heir to skill and responsibility.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
