Sunda and Upasunda: Austerities and the Boon

Karna said: “Nor can they be restrained by calamities—nor even by what fate has ordained. They have become capable and resolute, and within them has arisen the desire to obtain the ancestral and paternal sovereignty.”
The verse highlights the force of destiny and personal capability in political life: when people are empowered and driven by the aim of reclaiming ancestral authority, neither adversity nor warnings easily restrain them.
Karna is offering counsel, observing that the concerned party cannot be checked by troubles or by fate’s course; they have gained strength and now aspire to secure the inherited royal position of their lineage.
