yac ca tvaṃ manyase prāptaṃ tad bravīhi suyodhana | rādheya manyase yac ca prāptakālaṃ vadāśu me ||
Dhṛtarāṣṭra said: “Suyodhana, tell me what you judge to be the proper course that has now presented itself. And you too, Rādheya (Karna)—tell me at once what you consider timely and necessary to be done.”
धृतराष्ट उवाच
The verse highlights the importance of kāla (timing) and deliberation in governance: a ruler seeks counsel on what is both right for the present situation (prāptam) and appropriate to the moment (prāptakālam), implying that ethical and practical judgment must be aligned with circumstances.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra addresses Duryodhana (Suyodhana) and Karna (Rādheya), urging them to state promptly what they believe should be done given the situation at hand—framing a moment of consultation where impending action is being weighed.
