समन्तपञ्चक-आख्यानम् तथा अक्षौहिणी-प्रमाणनिर्णयः
Samantapañcaka Narrative and the Measure of an Akṣauhiṇī
क्षात्रधर्मेण निर्जित्य ततो वैवाहिकं स्मृतम् । विदुरागमनं चैव राज्यलम्भस्तथैव च
kṣātradharmeṇa nirjitya tato vaivāhikaṃ smṛtam | vidurāgamanaṃ caiva rājyalambhas tathaiva ca ||
Having first prevailed by the warrior’s code (kṣātra-dharma), what follows is remembered as the marriage rite; and then, likewise, the coming of Vidura and the gaining of the kingdom as well.
राम उवाच
The verse implies that rightful sovereignty is not merely seized by force: it is to be pursued through kṣatriya-dharma (regulated valor), consolidated through socially sanctioned alliance (marriage), and stabilized by the presence of wise counsel (Vidura), culminating in legitimate attainment of rule.
It functions as a compact summary of successive events: a victory achieved according to warrior duty, the ensuing marriage-related proceedings, the arrival of Vidura, and then the acquisition of the kingdom—presented as a sequence of notable milestones in the unfolding account.
