समन्तपञ्चक-आख्यानम् तथा अक्षौहिणी-प्रमाणनिर्णयः

अक्षौहिण्या: प्रसंख्याता रथानां द्विजसत्तमा: । संख्या गणिततत्त्वज्जै: सहस्राण्येकविंशति:,श्रेष्ठ ब्राह्यणो! गणितके तत्त्वज्ञ विद्वानोंने एक अक्षौहिणी सेनामें रथोंकी संख्या इक्कीस हजार आठ सौ सत्तर (२१,८७०) बतलायी है। हाथियोंकी संख्या भी इतनी ही कहनी चाहिये
Translation
O best of Brahmins! Those learned in the principles of reckoning have computed the number of chariots in a single akṣauhiṇī to be twenty-one thousand eight hundred and seventy (21,870). The number of elephants, too, should be declared to be exactly the same.
