Here itself is also recounted the episode concerning Durvāsā; and likewise the account of Draupadī’s abduction by Jayadratha from the hermitage precincts.
राम उवाच
The verse highlights two well-known episodes as moral exemplars: the sanctity of a hermitage and the duty of protection, the seriousness of violating hospitality and refuge, and the inevitable ethical repercussions of adharma such as abduction and abuse of power.
The speaker indicates that, in this very section, the text includes (1) the story connected with the sage Durvāsā and (2) the account of Jayadratha carrying off Draupadī from the hermitage precincts—signposting these embedded tales within the broader Mahābhārata narration.
