Samantapañcaka Narrative and the Measure of an Akṣauhiṇī

Āgastyam api cākhyānaṁ yatra Vātāpibhakṣaṇam | Lopāmudrābhigamanaṁ apatyārtham ṛṣes tathā ||

Here too is told the tale of Agastya—how he consumed Vātāpi, and how the sage approached Lopāmudrā in order to beget offspring. The passage points to a narrative where extraordinary ascetic power is joined with household duty, presenting procreation not as indulgence but as a purposeful act aligned with dharma.
