Samantapañcaka Narrative and the Measure of an Akṣauhiṇī
दर्शन बृहदश्वस्य महर्षेर्भावितात्मन: । युधिष्ठिरस्य चार्तस्य व्यसन परिदेवनम्,इसके बाद धर्मराज युधिष्ठिरको शुद्धहृदय महर्षि बृहदश्वका दर्शन हुआ। युधिष्छिरने आर्त होकर उन्हें अपनी दुःखगाथा सुनायी और विलाप किया
darśanaṁ bṛhadaśvasya maharṣer bhāvitātmanaḥ | yudhiṣṭhirasya cārtasya vyasana-paridevanam ||
Then Yudhiṣṭhira, the king of Dharma, stricken by calamity, gained an audience with the great seer Bṛhadaśva, a sage of purified and disciplined mind. In anguish he recounted his misfortunes and lamented before him.
राम उवाच
In times of vyasana (calamity), one should turn toward the wise and disciplined (bhāvitātmā) for guidance rather than be consumed by despair; lament may be natural, but it becomes meaningful when it leads to dharmic counsel and inner steadiness.
Yudhiṣṭhira, overwhelmed by misfortune, meets the sage Bṛhadaśva and, in a state of grief, narrates his troubles and laments—setting the stage for the sage’s response and instruction.
