नच प्राणैर्वियुज्यन्ते केचित् तत्रास्य सैनिका: । विश्वामित्रस्य संक्रुद्धैर्वासिछ्ैर्भरतर्षभ,भरतश्रेष्ठ! क्रोधमें भरे हुए होनेपर भी वसिष्ठसेनाके सैनिक विश्वामित्रके किसी भी योद्धाका प्राण नहीं लेते थे
na ca prāṇair viyujyante kecit tatrāsya sainikāḥ | viśvāmitrasya saṃkruddhair vāsiṣṭhair bharatarṣabha ||
The Gandharva said: “And yet, O bull among the Bharatas, none of his soldiers there were deprived of life. Even though angered in the conflict with Viśvāmitra, the warriors of Vasiṣṭha’s side did not take the life of any of Viśvāmitra’s fighters.”
गन्धर्व उवाच
Even amid anger and armed confrontation, dharma can express itself as restraint—victory or defense need not require taking life. The verse highlights ethical self-control in conflict.
A Gandharva narrates that during the clash involving Viśvāmitra and Vasiṣṭha’s side, Vasiṣṭha’s troops, though enraged, did not kill any of Viśvāmitra’s warriors.
