Cause of Kalmāṣapāda’s Niyoga under a Curse

ततस्तस्याज्ञया राज्ञो विप्रतस्थे महद्‌ बलम्‌ | स तु राजा गिरिप्रस्थे तस्मिन्‌ पुनरुपाविशत्‌,महाराजकी आज्ञासे तुरंत वह विशाल सेना राजधानीकी ओर चल दी; परंतु वे राजा संवरण फिर उसी पर्वत-शिखरपर जा बैठे

Transliteration

tatastasyājñayā rājño vipratasthe mahad balam | sa tu rājā giriprasthe tasmin punar upāviśat ||

Translation

Then, at the king’s command, a great army set out at once. But King Saṃvaraṇa himself returned again to that same mountain-peak at Giriprastha and sat there, withdrawing from the bustle of the capital—hinting at an inward struggle between outward power and inward resolve.
