ततः कतिपयाहस्य ब्राह्मण: संशितव्रत: । प्रतिश्रयार्थी तद् वेश्म ब्राह्मणस्य जगाम ह,तदनन्तर कुछ दिनोंके बाद एक कठोर नियमोंका पालन करनेवाला ब्राह्मण ठहरनेके लिये उन ब्राह्मणदेवताके घरपर आया
tataḥ katipayāhasya brāhmaṇaḥ saṃśitavrataḥ | pratiśrayārthī tad veśma brāhmaṇasya jagāma ha ||
Then, after a few days had passed, a Brahmin of well-disciplined vows came seeking shelter and lodging; he went to the house of that Brahmin.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse points to atithi-dharma: a guest who comes seeking shelter should be received and cared for. The mention of a disciplined, vow-observing Brahmin highlights the ethical weight of hospitality and the householder’s responsibility to support righteous conduct.
After some days, a Brahmin known for strict vows arrives seeking lodging and goes to the house of another Brahmin. This sets up a hospitality encounter that typically becomes the basis for a moral test or instruction in the surrounding narrative.
