Hiḍimba’s Approach and Hiḍimbā’s Warning to Bhīmasena
jambuka uvāca śṛṇu mūṣika bhadraṁ te nakulo yad ihābravīt
Jambuka said: “Listen, O Mouse—may good befall you. Hear what Nakula, the mongoose, has said here.”
The verse highlights the ethical importance of attentive listening to well-meant counsel—advice is introduced with a blessing (bhadraṁ te), implying that wisdom should be received with openness because it is offered for one’s welfare.
Jambuka addresses the mouse directly and invites him to hear the statement previously made by the mongoose. It functions as a transition line, preparing the audience for the mongoose’s counsel or argument within the animal-dialogue episode.
