Bhīma’s Search for Water and the Forest Halt
दुपद उवाच अनाश्षर्यत्रिदं ब्रह्मन् विक्रान्तेषु महात्मसु । प्रीये त्वयाहं त्वत्तश्न॒ प्रीतिमिच्छामि शाश्व॒तीम्,द्रपदने कहा--ब्रह्मन! आप-जैसे पराक्रमी महात्माओंमें ऐसी उदारताका होना आश्चर्यकी बात नहीं है। मैं आपसे बहुत प्रसन्न हूँ और आपके साथ सदा बनी रहनेवाली मैत्री एवं प्रेम चाहता हूँ
dupada uvāca | anāścaryam idaṃ brahman vikrānteṣu mahātmasu | prīye tvayāhaṃ tvattaś ca prītim icchāmi śāśvatīm ||
Dupada said: “O Brahmin, it is no wonder that such generosity is found among great-souled men who are truly valiant. I am deeply pleased with you, and I desire a lasting bond of friendship and affection with you.”
दुपद उवाच
True valor and greatness are shown not only in strength but in generosity and noble conduct; such virtue naturally inspires gratitude and enduring friendship.
King Dupada addresses a respected Brahmin, praising the noble generosity shown by a valiant great-souled person and expressing his own satisfaction along with a wish for a permanent relationship of goodwill and friendship.
