After a long time, the illustrious Kuntī arrived in the land of Kuru-jāṅgala and came to the city-gate known as Vardhamāna.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores how pivotal life-turns unfold through time and movement: an 'illustrious' person’s arrival at a threshold (the city gate) signals entry into a new sphere of duty and consequence, where personal fate becomes entwined with the larger Kuru narrative.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Kuntī, after a long interval, reaches the Kuru-jāṅgala region and comes to the city’s gate called Vardhamāna, indicating her arrival at the Kuru settlement and the next development in her story.
