अनुक्रमणिकाध्यायः (Anukramaṇikā Adhyāya) — Invocation, Narrator Frame, and Textual Scope

अनुज्ञातो5थ कृष्णस्तु ब्रह्मणा परमेषछ्ठिना । निषसादासनाभ्याशे प्रीयमाण: शुचिस्मित:,परमेष्ठी ब्रह्माजीकी आज्ञासे वे उनके आसनके पास ही बैठ गये। उस समय व्यासजीके हृदयमें आनन्दका समुद्र उमड़ रहा था और मुखपर मन्द-मन्द पवित्र मुसकान लहरा रही थी

anujñāto ’tha kṛṣṇas tu brahmaṇā parameṣṭhinā | niṣasādāsanābhyāśe prīyamāṇaḥ śucismitaḥ ||

Then Kṛṣṇa, having received permission from Brahmā, the Supreme Lord (Parameṣṭhin), sat down close to his seat. He was inwardly delighted, and a gentle, pure smile played upon his face—signaling reverence, composure, and the harmony of proper conduct in the presence of a venerable authority.
