अनुक्रमणिकाध्यायः (Anukramaṇikā Adhyāya) — Invocation, Narrator Frame, and Textual Scope

श्रुतवानसि मेधावी बुद्धिमान्‌ प्राज्ञसम्मतः । न विग्रहे मम मतिर्न च प्रीये कुलक्षये

śrutavān asi medhāvī buddhimān prājña-sammataḥ | na vigrahe mama matir na ca prīye kula-kṣaye ||

You are learned, sharp-minded, intelligent, and regarded as wise. Yet my resolve is not for quarrel, nor do I take any pleasure in the destruction of the family line.
