sa āha bhagavāṁs tasmai prītaḥ śuśrūṣave prabhuḥ nṛṇāṁ niḥśreyasārthāya yo ’vatīrṇo yadoḥ kule
The King’s question pleased Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Lord who had descended in the Yadu dynasty for the highest welfare of all people; and as the King listened with eager devotion, the Lord replied as follows.
This verse states that the Lord appeared in the Yadu dynasty for nṛṇāṁ niḥśreyasa—bringing the highest welfare to humanity, guiding souls toward perfection and liberation through devotion.
Śuśrūṣā is attentive, willing service and readiness to hear and assist. The verse shows that such sincere service draws the Lord’s pleasure, prompting Him to personally speak and guide the devotee.
Cultivate śuśrūṣā—serve and hear with sincerity (toward God, guru, and sādhus). The shloka teaches that heartfelt service invites divine guidance and leads toward one’s highest good.
