Hari’s Special Mercy, Śiva’s Quick Boons, and the Deliverance from Vṛkāsura
स आह देवं गिरिशमुपाधावाशु सिद्ध्यसि । योऽल्पाभ्यां गुणदोषाभ्यामाशु तुष्यति कुप्यति ॥ १५ ॥
sa āha devaṁ giriśam upādhāvāśu siddhyasi yo ’lpābhyāṁ guṇa-doṣābhyām āśu tuṣyati kupyati
Nārada replied: Worship Girīśa (Śiva) and you will soon attain success. He is quickly pleased by the slightest virtue, and quickly angered by the slightest fault.
This verse describes Śiva as āśu-toṣa—easily pleased—and also quickly angered, even by small signs of virtue or fault, highlighting his swift responsiveness to worship.
In the Vṛkāsura episode, Viṣṇu guides events to protect Śiva and restore order; the statement frames Śiva’s nature as quickly responsive, setting the context for how boons and their consequences unfold.
Be careful with impulsive promises and quick judgments; cultivate discernment so that generosity and responsiveness do not unintentionally empower harmful outcomes.
