Rājasūya: Agrapūjā for Kṛṣṇa and the Slaying (and Liberation) of Śiśupāla
वर्णितं तदुपाख्यानं मया ते बहुविस्तरम् । वैकुण्ठवासिनोर्जन्म विप्रशापात् पुन: पुन: ॥ ५० ॥
varṇitaṁ tad upākhyānaṁ mayā te bahu-vistaram vaikuṇṭha-vāsinor janma vipra-śāpāt punaḥ punaḥ
I have already described to you at length the account of the two residents of Vaikuṇṭha who, because of the curse of brāhmaṇas, were compelled to take birth again and again in the material world.
This verse states that the two Vaikuṇṭha residents repeatedly took birth because of a brāhmaṇa’s curse, a key thread behind the appearances of the Lord’s adversaries in His līlā.
He is concluding and summarizing the backstory explaining how the Lord’s opponents (connected to Jaya and Vijaya) appear across different births, placing the events of this chapter in a broader devotional narrative.
The verse highlights the seriousness of speech and offense: cultivate humility, avoid harming devotees or the virtuous, and use words responsibly—since actions and words can create lasting consequences.
