Rājasūya: Agrapūjā for Kṛṣṇa and the Slaying (and Liberation) of Śiśupāla
निन्दां भगवत: शृण्वंस्तत्परस्य जनस्य वा । ततो नापैति य: सोऽपि यात्यध: सुकृताच्च्युत: ॥ ४० ॥
nindāṁ bhagavataḥ śṛṇvaṁs tat-parasya janasya vā tato nāpaiti yaḥ so ’pi yāty adhaḥ sukṛtāc cyutaḥ
Anyone who hears criticism of the Supreme Lord or of His devoted servant and does not immediately leave that place will surely fall down, stripped of all pious merit.
In 10.74.40, the Bhāgavatam warns that if one hears blasphemy of the Lord or His devotee and does not leave or reject it, one also falls down and loses accumulated spiritual and pious merit.
In the context of the Rājasūya assembly and Śiśupāla’s offenses, Śukadeva emphasizes the gravity of blasphemy against Kṛṣṇa and His devotees, teaching that even passive participation (by staying and listening) is spiritually harmful.
