Kṛṣṇa Arrives at Kuṇḍina and Abducts Rukmiṇī
Rukmiṇī-haraṇa Prelude
तां वै प्रवयसो बालां विधिज्ञा विप्रयोषित: । भवानीं वन्दयांचक्रुर्भवपत्नीं भवान्विताम् ॥ ४५ ॥
tāṁ vai pravayaso bālāṁ vidhi-jñā vipra-yoṣitaḥ bhavānīṁ vandayāṁ cakrur bhava-patnīṁ bhavānvitām
The elder brāhmaṇa wives, skilled in ritual law, guided the young Rukmiṇī to bow to Bhavānī, the consort of Lord Bhava, who appeared together with her husband.
According to the ācāryas, here the term bhavānvitām indicates that in the Ambikā temple visited by Rukmiṇī, the presiding deity was the goddess, whose husband appeared in an accompanying role. Thus the ritual was properly performed by women.
As part of traditional, auspicious wedding preparations, the brāhmaṇa ladies guide Rukmiṇī to offer respects to Bhavānī, following proper ritual custom described in this verse.
Śukadeva Gosvāmī narrates to King Parīkṣit how Rukmiṇī, under the guidance of elderly brāhmaṇa women, performs temple worship as the wedding events unfold.
Seek guidance from knowledgeable elders and follow dharmic, prayerful preparation in major life events—keeping devotion and auspicious remembrance of the Divine at the center.
