Kṛṣṇa Visits Trivakrā; Akrūra’s Praise and the Hastināpura Mission
इत्यर्चित: संस्तुतश्च भक्तेन भगवान् हरि: । अक्रूरं सस्मितं प्राह गीर्भि: सम्मोहयन्निव ॥ २८ ॥
ity arcitaḥ saṁstutaś ca bhaktena bhagavān hariḥ akrūraṁ sa-smitaṁ prāha gīrbhiḥ sammohayann iva
Thus worshiped and fully glorified by His devotee, the Supreme Lord Hari, smiling, spoke to Akrūra, as if completely enchanting him with His words.
In this verse, after being worshiped and praised by His devotee Akrūra, Lord Hari responds personally—speaking with a smile—showing that Kṛṣṇa reciprocates with devotion and reveals Himself through His words.
Akrūra was overwhelmed by devotion and awe; Kṛṣṇa’s sweet, divine speech can intensify a devotee’s ecstasy and humility, making the devotee feel enchanted—‘as if bewildered’—by the Lord’s mercy and intimacy.
Approach spiritual practice with sincere praise and remembrance; like Akrūra, a devotee becomes inwardly transformed by divine teachings—regular śravaṇa (hearing) and kīrtana (chanting) can steady the mind and deepen devotion.
