Kṛṣṇa Comforts His Parents, Restores Ugrasena, Studies with Sāndīpani, and Returns the Guru’s Son
एवं सान्त्वय्य भगवान् नन्दं सव्रजमच्युत: । वासोऽलङ्कारकुप्याद्यैरर्हयामास सादरम् ॥ २४ ॥
evaṁ sāntvayya bhagavān nandaṁ sa-vrajam acyutaḥ vāso-’laṅkāra-kupyādyair arhayām āsa sādaram
Thus, after consoling Nanda Mahārāja and the men of Vraja, the infallible Lord Acyuta respectfully honored them with gifts of clothing, ornaments, household utensils, and the like.
In this verse, Śrī Kṛṣṇa respectfully honors Nanda Mahārāja and the Vraja-vāsīs with garments, ornaments, and valuable goods, showing that devotion is met with the Lord’s personal care and gratitude.
Because Kṛṣṇa was about to depart for Mathurā, Nanda and the Vraja-vāsīs were distressed; Kṛṣṇa reassured them and then honored them, softening the pain of separation through affectionate conduct.
It teaches honoring relationships with respect and generosity—offering reassurance in times of anxiety and expressing gratitude through meaningful service or gifts, especially to those who have lovingly supported us.
