Kṛṣṇa Slays Kuvalayāpīḍa and Enters Kaṁsa’s Wrestling Arena
तस्माद् राज्ञ: प्रियं यूयं वयं च करवाम हे । भूतानि न: प्रसीदन्ति सर्वभूतमयो नृप: ॥ ३५ ॥
tasmād rājñaḥ priyaṁ yūyaṁ vayaṁ ca karavāma he bhūtāni naḥ prasīdanti sarva-bhūta-mayo nṛpaḥ
Therefore let us do what the King desires. Then all beings will be pleased with us, for the King embodies all living creatures.
This verse states that the king is “sarva-bhūta-mayaḥ”—a representative embodiment of all subjects—so when he is pleased, the people and other beings are naturally pacified in relation to his rule.
In the Mathurā arena they urged Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma to act in a way that would satisfy King Kaṁsa, implying that compliance with the king’s desire would keep the wider situation favorable.
It highlights the principle that leadership affects collective wellbeing: when leaders act responsibly and are properly satisfied through ethical governance, harmony spreads; when leadership is misused, society becomes disturbed.
