Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī explains that in Vṛndāvana the full moon is eternally risen, and this full moon is like the full manifestation of the Absolute Truth, Śrī Kṛṣṇa. When He was manifest on earth, Lord Kṛṣṇa was surrounded by prominent members of the Vṛṣṇi dynasty such as Nanda, Upananda, Vasudeva and Akrūra.

FAQs

This verse says Kṛṣṇa shines on earth surrounded by the Vṛṣṇis, just as the full moon shines in the sky surrounded by stars—highlighting His natural supremacy and the glory of His devotees and family.

Śukadeva uses a vivid simile to convey Kṛṣṇa’s radiant presence: as the moon becomes especially splendid when accompanied by stars, Kṛṣṇa’s splendor is seen as He is encircled by His associates.

Seek the “circle of stars” of sādhus and devotees: spiritual progress and inner strength increase when one stays connected to a supportive devotee community centered on Kṛṣṇa.
