Dhruva Uses the Nārāyaṇāstra; Manu Checks His Wrath and Teaches Dharma
एवं स्वायम्भुव: पौत्रमनुशास्य मनुर्ध्रुवम् । तेनाभिवन्दित: साकमृषिभि: स्वपुरं ययौ ॥ ३५ ॥
evaṁ svāyambhuvaḥ pautram anuśāsya manur dhruvam tenābhivanditaḥ sākam ṛṣibhiḥ sva-puraṁ yayau
Thus Svāyambhuva Manu instructed his grandson Dhruva Mahārāja; honored by Dhruva’s respectful obeisances, Manu and the great sages then returned to their respective abodes.
Thus end the Bhaktivedanta purports of the Fourth Canto, Eleventh Chapter, of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, entitled “Svāyambhuva Manu Advises Dhruva Mahārāja to Stop Fighting.”
It shows Dhruva Mahārāja honoring Svāyambhuva Manu after receiving instruction, emphasizing that devotion is expressed through humility and respectful obedience to saintly authority.
As Dhruva’s grandfather and righteous ruler, Manu gave guidance to steady Dhruva in dharma after the events of the narrative, then returned to his capital with the sages.
Seek wise guidance, accept it sincerely, and show gratitude—by respectful conduct and follow-through—toward teachers, parents, and spiritually minded mentors.
