Brahmā Worships Vāmana; the Demons Attack; Bali is Bound and Questioned About the Third Step
हे विप्रचित्ते हे राहो हे नेमे श्रूयतां वच: । मा युध्यत निवर्तध्वं न न: कालोऽयमर्थकृत् ॥ १९ ॥
he vipracitte he rāho he neme śrūyatāṁ vacaḥ mā yudhyata nivartadhvaṁ na naḥ kālo ’yam artha-kṛt
O Vipracitti, O Rāhu, O Nemi—hear my words! Do not fight; withdraw at once, for this time is not favorable to us.
This verse highlights that even powerful beings should act according to proper time; without favorable kāla, fighting or effort may not fulfill one’s intended goal.
Because the speaker judges the moment to be unfavorable—“this is not our time”—and urges withdrawal rather than fruitless conflict.
Practice discernment: pause or step back from conflict when conditions are unfavorable, and act strategically at the right time instead of forcing outcomes through agitation.
