Aditi’s Lament and Kaśyapa’s Instruction of the Payo-vrata (Milk Vow) to Please Keśava
pūjāṁ ca mahatīṁ kuryād vitta-śāṭhya-vivarjitaḥ caruṁ nirūpya payasi śipiviṣṭāya viṣṇave
Giving up miserly reluctance to spend, one should arrange splendid worship of Lord Viṣṇu, Śipiviṣṭa, who dwells in the heart of every being. With steady attention, prepare caru—grains cooked in ghee and milk—worship while chanting the Puruṣa-sūkta, and offer naivedya of many flavors, which pleases the Supreme Puruṣa.
This verse instructs that worship should be performed without dishonesty or miserliness about one’s wealth—devotion must be sincere and straightforward.
Śipiviṣṭa is a Vedic epithet of Viṣṇu; here it emphasizes addressing the Lord through authorized sacred names while performing the Pāyo-vrata worship.
Offer time, resources, and service to God transparently—avoid show, bargaining, or hidden motives in spiritual practice.
