Sukta 9
यां प्रच्युतामनु यज्ञाः प्रच्यवन्त उपतिष्ठन्त उपतिष्ठमानाम्। यस्या व्रते प्रसवे यक्षमेजति सा विराडृषयः परमे व्योऽमन्
yā́m prác yutā́m ánu yajñā́ḥ prác yávanta upatíṣṭhanta upatíṣṭhamānā́m | yásyā́ vraté prasavé yákṣam éjati sā́ virā́ḍ ṛ́ṣayaḥ paramé vyòman
Her, when she hath issued forth, the Sacrifices, advancing after, attend—yea, they attend upon her who is attended. In whose ordinance, at the divine impelling, the dread Yakṣa-power is set aquiver: she is Virāj, the Seers (behold her) in the highest heaven-space.
Rishi: Traditionally attributed within AV speculative hymns to Atharvanic seer-lineages (Angiras/Atharvan); specific assignment varies by anukramaṇī tradition for Virāj hymns.
Devata: Virāj (personified metre/cosmic form); associated with Yakṣa-śakti and the ordered yajña.
Chandas: Predominantly Triṣṭubh/Jagatī movement in the hymn; this verse scans with mixed cadence typical of AV speculative sections.
