Mantra 1

एन्द्र नो गधि प्रियः सत्राजिदगोह्यः । गिरिर्न विश्वतस्पृथुः पतिर्दिवः

Come, Indra, unto us, benign; victorious ever, not to be hidden: like a mountain, broad on every side, the Lord of Heaven.

Mantra 2

अभि हि सत्य सोमपा उभे बभूथ रोदसी । इन्द्रासि सुन्वतो वृधः पतिर्दिवः

For thou, O true Soma-drinker, hast encompassed both the Worlds; thou art, O Indra, for the Soma-presser, the Bull—Heaven’s Lord.

त्वं हि शश्वतीनामिन्द्र दर्ता पुरामसि । हन्ता दस्योर्मनोर्वृधः पतिर्दिवः

For thou, O Indra, from of old art splitter of the forts; slayer of the Dasyu, champion of Manu—Heaven’s Lord.

Mantra 4

एदु मध्वो मदिन्तरं सिञ्च वाध्वर्यो अन्धसः । एवा हि वीर स्तवते सदावृधः

Pour forth, O Adhvaryu, of the honeyed draught the more intoxicating Soma-juice. For thus, O Hero, is he praised—the ever-growing One.

इन्द्र स्थातर्हरीणां नकिष्टे पूर्व्यस्तुतिम्। उदानंश शवसा न भन्दना

Indra, standing by thy tawny steeds, none hath attained thy ancient praise: thou hast outstripped them by thy strength—not as a broken weakling.

Mantra 6

तं वो वाजानां पतिमहूमहि श्रवस्यवः । अप्रायुभिर्यज्ञेभिर्वावृधेन्यम्

Him, the Lord of prizes, we invoke for you—ye seekers after fame—with sacrifices unwearied, him who is to be strengthened.
