Mantra 1
खिलानि । विततौ किरणौ द्वौ तावा पिनष्टि पूरुषः । न वै कुमारि तत्तथा यथा कुमारि मन्यसे
Khila-verses. Two ‘rays’ are spread abroad; those two, even so, the man presses. Not truly, O maiden, is that so, as, O maiden, thou imaginest.
Mantra 2
मातुष्टे किरणौ द्वौ निवृत्तः पुरुषानृते । न वै कुमारि तत्तथा यथा कुमारि मन्यसे
From the mother, for thee, the two ‘rays’ are held back—through a man’s untruth. Not truly, O maiden, is that so, as, O maiden, thou imaginest.
Mantra 3
निगृह्य कर्णकौ द्वौ निरायच्छसि मध्यमे । न वै कुमारि तत्तथा यथा कुमारि मन्यसे
Holding down the two ‘little ears’, thou stretchest them forth in the middle. Not truly, O maiden, is that so, as, O maiden, thou imaginest.
Mantra 4
उत्तानायै शयानायै तिष्ठन्ती वाव गूहसि । न वै कमारि तत्तथा यथा कुमारि मन्यसे
For her that lies supine, for her that lies down, standing—surely—thou concealest (it). Not truly, O maiden, is that so, as, O maiden, thou imaginest.
Mantra 5
श्लक्ष्णायां श्लक्ष्णिकायां श्लक्ष्णमेवाव गूहसि । न वै कुमारि तत्तथा यथा कुमारि मन्यसे
In the smooth, in the smooth-lined place, the smooth indeed thou hidest away within. Not verily, O maiden, is that so, as, O maiden, thou deemest.
Mantra 6
अवश्लक्ष्णमिव भ्रंशदन्तर्लोममति ह्रदे। न वै कुमारि तत्तथा यथा कुमारि मन्यसे
As though unsmooth, slipping away—within, hair beyond, in the heart: not verily, O maiden, is that so, as, O maiden, thou deemest.
Not primarily. It is framed as direct address to a maiden; its effective “power” is truthful, corrective speech (satya) rather than a named god’s intervention.
The repetition acts like a performative negation: it overturns misconception and breaks the force of secrecy, rumor, or manipulation by reasserting authoritative truth.
